Living “green” is huge these days. Al Gore is a media darling and everyone wants a piece of what he’s selling. Whatever your stance on environment issues, it’s the hot topic of the day and big media like NBC is working it hard. What can they pitch that makes them lots of money but still makes you feel good about the environment? That being said, sustainable living isn’t a bad way to approach life. A little conservation goes a long way and we can all do our part just as responsible humans. Without being patronizing, here are a few green ideas that gave me pause.
YiAhn Bassinet - This is the best idea of the lot. Instead of throwing out old furniture as your baby matures, how about furniture that adapts.
Greener Grass - Based out of Houston comes this online shop with “the desire to filter beauty out of the muck and mundane.” Lots of cool products for the green set.
Wrist Powered Lamp - Seriously? a wind-up lamp? How cool is that? Even the oversized key makes a statement.
Sacrifices Are Made - Back in June of 2006, Su Avasthi of Lime.com talked about making choices. Apparently a beautiful ass wrapped in non-green jeans wins out over social responsibility. Ok, I concur on this one.
Wedlog - “A magical blog of fun, funky and green wedding planning.” That’s about as niche as it comes, but still a great idea.
Speaking of Niche - Straight out of Brooklyn comes Niche Design to the rescue. Ok, maybe not rescue, but definitely with a mind for sustainable design. Very nice clean work here.
Dance Dance Revolution - So you get all these kids into the club, have them dance the night away and use the energy to power to lights and speakers. Nice! And they would probably still charge $20 a head.
Green Clean - A book and a blog all about ways to clean with less chemicals and more sustainability.
I think that’s enough greeness for one weekend. I’m not a very good tree hugger, so if you want more info, I recommend Stumble Upon for finding some random recommended sites.
