Today was the best day just hanging out with my sister. She lives with her husband on the top of a hill overlooking Kaneohe Bay in Oahu. Every morning I’ve been getting up, going for a walk or just sitting and relishing the view with a cup of jo.

In just four days, this has been our agenda: Kayaking in Lanikai, swimming, walking in the beautiful neighborhood, eating Thai food, going to North Shore and eating the best fish burgers, gallery viewing and capturing the local scenery with water colors. The best thing is that I’ve had plenty of time to rest as well. I cooked a couple of gourmet type treats for Kathy and Pat. Yesterday was an omelet with asparagus, spinach, toasted garlic, sauteed tomatoes and onions and oven roasted red potatoes with garlic and onion. Today, I made a light dinner of steamed spinach with sauteed pecans in olive oil, splash of salt, red pepper, cinnamon and roasted garlic. Threw all that on the spinach and topped it with the nuts and some gargonzola chunks and pears. Yum!

I just finished cleaning my brushes and I’m sitting here with plenty of energy. I guess I’ll have to go to bed and start reading a good book to help me drop off to sleep.

Just hanging with her is great because all she does is support me in any way I need, and we get along famously. It’s just fun. This vacation with my sister has been the best, just what I needed. I’m rested and invigorated by all that I’ve seen and done.

Which reminds me, you’ve got to check out this gallery I visited today, Sunshine Arts Hawaii. My favorite artist is Louise Donahue. I’ve been coming to the islands here in Hawaii for several years and this gallery far exceeds the majority of the talent in terms of tropical artists. They have great work from all over but it’s all quality work. If only I could reach that point with my work. I’m getting there but these artist have been working at their craft for quite some time and I’m still an apprentice in comparison. It inspired me to work hard today though.
