If I wasn’t trying to sell this house we live in here in “Cookie Cutter” Mission Viejo, I would create my own extreme makeover. It would be so eclectic but unmistakably awesome. People would comment, “Wow, what an unusual array of things”, or they’d just know it looks great but can’t figure out how I had the guts to pull it off. Don’t get me wrong, there are many pluses to my neighborhood, however, I would prefer my home to be anything but a track home with a normal interior setting.
It’s nice to have a nice house, everything in it’s place, organized and designed well. However, it’s even better when you can have an element of surprise somewhere in the room. It doesn’t have to be “Jack in the Box” jumping out all over but something like this zebra carpet runner up the stairs is a great surprise. I would probably paint a lacquered black wall behind the bed creating an intense backdrop. I can’t do that in this house because we have a very generic golden carpet. But, if I could do that I would put in a geometric carpet in grays and and a pearl white.
This room here is radical, but so tastefully done with black and white steps, the vast choices of lighting, chairs and photography. This was created by the talented designers Haynes and Roberts. My hats off to them. Would I have the guts to do something this bold is comfy, quiet Mission Viejo? Would you?
