Mom and Son Show

I gave my son, Dave Conrey and I a crazy deadline for a Mother-Son Art Exhibit. It will be November 8th. Yikes!

I can’t believe I’m putting us both up against a heavy deadline like this. The reason I’m doing this is to get in to action. It is time to fire myself up and without a deadline, I seem to procrastinate on unfinished oil paintings that have been hanging around far too long. My son also needs the same fire. He has tremendous talent but he’s under a different fire. He’s art director for two different magazines at Prime Media and commutes to Los Angeles and back to Long Beach. Ugh!

If we pull this off, the incentive to keep going will create the perfect livelihood. The thought of that is exhilarating! I’m happiest when I’m creating something and especially art. I’m fortunate to have a bit of talent so I must use it to the best of my ability. Over time, who knows? Maybe we will improve ten-fold and become sought after by collectors. That would be nice. I know I have a lot of work to do to gain that much admiration but like I suggested, it is now to set the pace so I can push myself and drag my son along with me. I know he wants it too! Incentive can be given to us by seeing others create their dreams. We have friends in high places now.

We’ve decided to forego the galleries and have a personal exhibit in my desert home. We are located near La Quinta in Indio, California. La Quinta has a festival semi-annually but it is outdoors. It is a very nice event but I feel that any art or craft sold outdoors seems to lower the standards to a swap meet mentality. We do not want to tag our art in that direction. Creating a special invitation for a wine tasting art exhibit gives it a bit more class, don’t you think?

I’ll let you guess whose painting is whose. We’ll keep you posted as to the timing of the event!
