Live where you Love and Love where you Live

The title reminds me of an old joke, “Let’s go in to the Loving room. Oh excuse me, Did I say Loving?” Whatever you want to call it, we should all live in a place we love, whether it’s a city, our home, a room in our home, a relationship and so on.
This last weekend, I spent four days in our desert home. I love that home. I love the desert. I love the mountains surrounding it and I…… can’t get there quick enough. I want to live there permanently but we cannot do that right now due to the housing market downfall. Yet, I say to my husband, John “Hon, don’t you see if I were here, I could hustle business out this way and truly make it happen?”
That is my dilemna and also another reason why I am planning the art show with my son and I to be held out there. I could have it in this home but it just doesn’t have the good feng sui like the desert home. First, that home is on one floor . The moment you walk in, you see the outside from way down the hall. It’s a open floor plan with a large great room. The layout is welcoming and calming because we are next to a pond. I feel so driven in that home. Driven to paint and create. That is who I am and that is where I belong.
How many of you out there feel uptight in your current environment. Sometimes, it just might need so clearing of clutter, a good housecleaning, or a new paint color. That can help alot. But, if the interior layout doesn’t flow with your own lifestyle, it will have an effect on your energy. For instance, I have an office upstairs in the house I live in most of the time. I do not love this home but I like the exterior view we have of the saddleback mountains. I have to run up and down and down and up and get the door for the UPS guy. If I leave the cordless phone in the garage or upstairs, it’s never in the right place when it rings. I just hate that. This home feels too dark and dungeon-like. We’re not going to do too much to it because our goal is in sight to move. Now, it’s just a matter of when.
Most of you are probably thinking, “Why doesn’t she look a gift horse in the mouth?” Believe me, I’m grateful and I thank God everyday for what I have. I’m very blessed with so many things. I just want to be in the other home because of the creative energy I feel when I’m there. I would be moving and shakin, creating a lifestyle that generates nothing but positive results. I could be totally wrong and making too much out of this but I change environments for a living so I know when it’s right and when it needs a change or uplift. For those out there who are looking for that perfect enviroment, ask yourself a few questions first.
1. What can I do to improve this home? (make a list)
2. Does this home feel good? Why and why not? Does it have a flowing floor plan or is it contrived? Can you make some easy floor plan changes in the structure?
3. Is this home in the right neighborhood, location, easy access to my lifestyle (freeways, friends, shopping)?
4. If I made changes to the home, would I still be unhappy or happy in the home?
If you are not sure about this, you might ask a professional to help you make some choices if you don’t know what to do. If you feel, there is no hope after you’ve made improvements, maybe it is time to move.

September 18th, 2008 at 10:29 amI must agree with you on the creative energy thing … I would like to think that I can be anywhere, accomplish the same and feel the same creativity and peace, but nothing beats the mountains for me. Acceptance of where we are, not always easy. I have had to be away quite a bit this year (uptight in my current environment!) so I try to at least find a trail, any trail wherever I am!
