Weekenders - Sit Your Butt Down

Seating is a #! priority for me and it had better be comfortable. I have of a lot of meat on my derrière but it’s not near enough to create comfort on a hard sofa. In fact, right now we have the most uncomfortable seating. No matter what degree of a “couch potato” you are, our sofa would not work for you.

Today, I’ll give you some resources to the best looking contemporary seating with style and comfort. I selected all white sofas that look similar but with a different price point and flair.

Barclay Butera Home - This is my pick of the week for overall beauty and comfort.

A. Rudin - #2667 looks very similar. It would have to be the sit test to see which one wins.

BoConcept - has got some real beauties! Love their site but dizzy to navigate. It’s a bit too hip for users. I’d prefer things sitting still so I can look at them. I understand how you can move around the room — just goofy for my eyes.

Kat Burki Home - If you want something that leans a bit more transitional, try this new kid on the block. Their new to my book and I’ll put them on the favorites.

Calligaris - Five Stars should say it all for this sofa. Not so sure on the rest of the line but getting points like that should suggest this puppy is comfortable. Anything in Italy is sure to look good but the price point on this is pretty reasonable.

Room Service - Another look alike but very very nice. This site is one to land on for awhile. Their Love Sofa in bright pink is soooo much fun!

Jayson Home and Garden - This is the least favorite. I couldn’t find a similar look in leather but this is the closest style. Looks a bit sloppy for the price but their Hugo chair steps it up a pace.

That should give you some great hunts to sit your butt down on! If you want to purchase from the trade, give me a jingle!

Psychedelic Man!

My son, Dave Conrey has never touched a drug that I’m aware of. But, by the looks of this painting you might think he’s on something now. I cracked up when he sent me this one today. You see, we are both working towards the last couple of weeks to complete our art. He’s obviously a little looser than I am but I think it’s pretty powerful. He’s a natural at the abstracts. My thing is faces. If timing works out for us, we’ll create a collaborative piece.

The exciting thing is that people are responding favorably to both of our styles. We’ve been approached by three different locations to show our work. Maybe it’s because we are creating a nice mix so it keeps it interesting. I believe that we are going to have a nice turn out for the exhibit on November 8th.

That’s it for now. I’ve got to finish some art myself tonight.

Design Trend - Black and White

Instead of me just picking on dead trends, I felt it was in your best interests to talk about what’s hot as well. This year, black & white is the new “black”. Bold contrasts that works for all types of design style and can be used subtly for added drama or can be turned big and bold for the ultimate POW. Here’s some examples:

CB2 is Crate & Barrel’s edgy alternative. They featured this setup on the cover of their catalog a couple months back and was the initial inspiration for this post. SPECIAL NOTE: When you’re on the CB2 page, hover your mouse over the different items to go directly to their descriptions.
Design Public features a more modern take on B&W. They add a punch of bright pink for a little extra zing, classy and fun.
From The Arizona Republic:”Barbara Kaplan believes that homes are private places that should reflect their owners’ emotions rather than design trends. She got rid of everything in her home and started over with a white canvas, adding splashes of black.”
null Momoy.com features some kitchen styles working with the monochromatic color scheme. Scroll down past the numerous adds for the gravy.
null Tara Dennis essentially mimics what we’re saying but also includes a full report available as a free download.

These are just a few samples and we don’t recommend that you do exactly what you see here but instead take these ideas and others, mix ‘em up and and make them you’re own. Figure out your style and run with it, but have confidence that even though black and white won’t always be the hottest trend, it will always be popular and workable into any style.
