Weekenders draft

Home Design Fun Finds is this weeks pleasure.

Fourth of July Wreath - I can’t forget about the holiday coming up.  Here’s something your kids can put together!

Brocade Home - I’ve talked about this site before but it’s worth revisting time and time again if you are decorating.  It’s a bit girly for bedding but luscious.  The furniture is very hip for both men and women.

Southern Living - For anyone interested in a decorative home based business, this is over the top for country comforts.

Chiasso - This look is modern apartment style.  Looks relatively inexpensive but fun!

Meridameridian - For the green lovers, this is the ultimate in raffia style rugs.  Very nice!

Wunderley -  Here is a lovely lamp to go along with the raffia rug.  Morroccan always makes me go “ooooh oooh oooh!”

Dwell - They never cease to amaze me on the bedding ideas.  I just might have to purchase this set from Sketch Bedding Collection.

Tea Party - Straight from China tableware.  Isn’t this special?  I’m not sure if you’ll have difficulty ordering but it sure is sweet.

Sanijet - If you are tired of designing, you can relax in this spa bath with a hydrotherapy system. Sounds good to me.

I hope everyone will be safe on the roads this weekend.  Put the cell phones down, watch the road and the other drivers out there.  Be safe and have a blast!    Happy Fourth of July!

Find Me A Fireplace Designer

It’s freeeezing outside! Well, at least it is for Southern California.

Nothing makes me feel cozier than a warm fireplace. Not only does it warm the outside of your body but it really warms the heart. Fireplaces always take me back to the good times in life.

I know some folks that like fires in the fireplace so much, they light them even in Summer, and I can relate. To me, fireplaces have the same effect as fish tanks, calming and meditative. Weird, huh? When you think of fire any other way, you think disaster. But with a fireplace, you can plop yourself down with a good book and a snifter of brandy and you’ve got a great night!

I’m great with all that but what really irks me is fireplace screens. Most are absolutely horrid. The one shown above is probably one of the best designs I’ve seen, simple yet modern. It would be great for most contemporary settings but what about the more traditional folks who need to replace their old dingy, dirty chain link screen? For more conservative applications with a hearth, I’ve not seen one screen out there that rocks my world. I’ve searched for a long time to find contemporary and traditional screens and there is very little out there in my opinion. They are either very dorky, heavy or just the same old thing.

I found this one gem Home Depot. It’s just so boring, like someone with no imagination took a large wine barrel, wrapped the wire and iron around it and then soldered it. I mean, come on people! There are so many great designers in the world, but none that make great fireplace screens. Here is a market for budding entrepreneur. Maybe I’ll design one… or maybe not.

Ok, I’m off it now. I’ll go turn on my fireplace and cool my jets!

Round Design and Loreal Fashion Rocks!

In a previous post, We talked about Round Design and its work. Dave is particularly fond of it, but most didn’t do much for me until I hit the Loreal pieces (click on Our Work link). Perhaps it’s because figurative work really speaks to me but the stuff that Loreal put together for the ad campaign and promotion for the Montreal Fashion Festival is tremendous in my opinion. I just love people with unique faces and unusual eyes and this work is loaded with them.

Graphic design tends to leave me cold unless the color elements speak to me. Now, these are very great in the collection and because the colors speak very LOUD!!! Don’t you agree? I Love this! Well almost all of it.

The hard lines and symmetrical shapes in graphics don’t do much for me, but I dig the organic lines and colors, and of course, people. It all spurs some inspiration in me though and I’d like to be exposed to more contemporary graphics. If you have links you’d like to share, please do. Show me what you got!
