I’m working on my Bah Humbug spirit. The slow to turn economy has us all slow to jump on the holiday. However, we’ve got to jump and the only way to do it is to create the Ho Ho Ho and the Ha Ha Ha, right?
Every year, at least one client wants me to decorate their home or business for the holidays. This is so much fun for me. I get to spend their money and go shopping and use my creative edge to bring in the holiday glee. I absolutely love it. I have to admit that if I did not have the client’s to urge me right now, I’m not so sure I would be ready by Christmas.
Today, I put the finishing touches on a restaurant. It is simple but very festive. I never create the same design twice for a client or myself. Even if I’m using the same stuff from Christmas past, I find ways to rearrange it so it’s looks like a new idea. If I can do this for my clients, I can sure as well do it for us! There’s no time like the present or the stress will just be too great for me.
Today, I came home and pulled the dusty boxes down and slowly started piecing glittery things together. It helps to take your time. Tomorrow I will find some more and place it around little by little until we finally get to the tree. It helps to finish one area at a time. Tomorrow I’ll finish the powder room and the family room. I might even get to the living and dining but most likely not. I’ll do that on Saturday after we find the perfect tree.
People are so concerned with the economy that it’s putting a damper on it but the only way out is to fake it. Or my motto is fake it until you make it. Once you start pulling out the nostalgic decorations it will bring joy in to your little heart and you can swiftly kick it in.
I hope to be complete with the decorating by the end of this weekend. This will allow me the time to make some home made gifts and Christmas cards. That is the best, as far as I’m concerned. In my family, we made gifts for each other. I always loved opening the gift baskets my Aunt Dee would make. She was my idol when it came to creativity. This is such a thing of the past but deep down inside, I think everyone loves to received a home-made gift because it truly comes from the heart.
I hope this instills a bit of energy for you to find ways to make this holiday season the best it can be. Merry Merry! See you soon!
