[NOTE: We're not really sure what happened, here, but this post was supposed to go up last week. It seemed to disappear and reappear, so here it is for your pleasure.]

Last week, I wrote about creating a design theory for bachelors. I talked about different choices of textiles, style of furniture and accessories for two personality types between Bachelor #1 and Bachelor #2. I want to expand on this subject a bit and break each of these single guys down. We’ll start with Bachelor #1.

If you read my story, Bachelor #1 is very contemporary compared to Bachelor #2 although he might invite ma over to cook him some meals so he’s got to show her how he’s dressed the place up. When I saw the name of this site, Iloveuma.com I thought “How perfect!”. I was amazed to find such treats. This lamp shown here is almost like sculpture. It is beautifully designed. I chose it for the glass to go along with the glass coffee table we’ll find. But, we need something to set this one on. I chose the Magnussen sofa table. It sort of imitates the lamp’s lines and silver gray tones. .

The bright red chair from Design within Reach creates the pizazz for the room. A bacehlor is going to have parties and dates so I will create a conversation pit with two chairs flanking the sofa. DWR’s site is the perfect percentage of hipness for this guy. It’s not overboard but just darn clean. This particular line is a bit pricey for everyone but they beat Room and Board’s price due to their 15% discount this week. Get it while it’s hot.

The room is filled with straight lines so it will be necessary to break that up a bit and how I will do that is with color. The red chairs will be the start of the movement. Intertwined will be scultpure, art and accessories that follow suit to the style. Accents of yellow, reds, black, gray, and possibly a little touch of a deep purple somewhere within the art. That should keep the eyes moving. Mom will love it and we’ll keep a secret. She’ll think he did it all himself!

I’ll find a setting for Bachelor #2 and post that later this week. If you guys are out there, you just saved a bunch of money on this designer.
